Complementary Therapies

Unfortunately, we are currently not able to accept new referrals for our Complementary Therapies.

We provide Complementary Therapy sessions to help you with depression, stress, anxiety or chronic pain to aid their healing of body, mind, and spirit.

The therapies include massage, aromatherapy, and reflexology, one to one, in sets of weekly appointments.

Aromatherapy:

Is the use of essential oils to promote personal health. They are used in massage to produce a relaxed, stimulated or soothed state.

Massage:

Massage  involves applying touch with varying degrees of pressure. The massage therapist uses touch with sensitivity in order to determine the optimal amount of pressure to use for each person. Massage reduces muscle tension, stress and gives general relaxation.

Reflexology:

Is the treatment method based on the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet and hands which correspond to all of the glands, organs and parts of the body. Reflexology is employed by using the thumb and fingers with specific pressures. It helps release stress and tension and promotes relaxation.

Complementary Therapies Group:

We also provide wellbeing sessions in groups where we teach you techniques for self-help, well-being, and relaxation techniques. We provide handouts for  you to take-away.

Our sessions run during school terms so that mothers can attend when children are at school; we have free childcare for under 5’s if you are attending individual sessions (there is a reduced charge for group session crèche). The sessions run in our main office in Edinburgh and sometimes at other locations.

All our therapists are fully qualified and insured, they have regular supervision and have lots of experience in working with Black and Minority Ethnic women.

Quotes from women who have used the Complementary Therapies service:

“I think this is a really great organisation for helping anyone in need (thank you very much).”

“I feel a lot better, less stressed and health problems are not as bad as they were before. I am sure that the reflexology has helped a lot to enable me to relax and cope better.”
