Vote for Young Saheliya’s “Drop the Mike” Project!

Young Saheliya Team’s “Drop the Mike” project  has managed to get through to the second stage (voting stage) of Choose Youth Work. This is brilliant as it means Young Saheliya could get funding towards creating a series of very exciting podcasts.

Here is their short project introduction:
“The Young Black and Minority Ethnic Girls will produce a series of podcasts that will explore issues and topics regarding the experiences of young BME women. The podcasts will include interviews, reports and offer a platform for young people to share experiences.”

All young people aged between 11-21 living in Edinburgh can choose 3 projects from 16 to allocate funding.

Online voting and a summary of the projects is here: https://edinburgh.participare.io

BACP shortlists Saheliya for the ‘Adaptations to Counselling’ Award (2012) as one of the top three candidates in the United Kingdom

bacp logo. For the second year in a row, Saheliya’s counselling service was shortlisted for the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Award.

Whereas in 2011 Saheliya was highly commended by the judging panel in the award category ‘Innovation in Counselling and Psychotherapy’, in the 2012 competition, the Saheliya counselling service was one out of only three top UK candidates shortlisted for the ‘Adapting Services’ award.

This year’s competition had been the busiest, with the largest number of applications from counselling organizations across the UK. Saheliya’s success in being shortlisted as one of the top three in this category speaks of our long-lasting commitment to supporting our clients holistically in order to promote their well-being.

Details of Saheliya’s nomination and shortlisting can be found in BACP’s monthly publication ‘Therapy Today’ for March 2013
